Frequently Asked Questions How does this Personal Chef Service Work? Initially we set up a free consultation with you where we will discuss everything from your meal needs, likes and dislikes. We will work with you to customize a menu of entrées and side dishes that we will prepare for you. We return, to your home, on a predetermined "Cook Date" with all of the fresh groceries needed to prepare your meals. We spend an average of two hours in your kitchen preparing your meals, storing them in the refrigerator and freezer and cleaning up after ourselves. Once we depart the only evidence of our presence is the wonderful aromas left behind and a kitchen stocked with great meals. Why are you preparing the meals in my kitchen? Oregon law requires Personal Chefs to use their client's kitchens unless they are using a Commercial Kitchen. Using your kitchen, rather than a commercial one, helps us keep your costs down. Do I need to be home while you are cooking? No. Actually, many of our clients prefer to be gone during the cooking process. You are welcome to stay home if this makes you feel more comfortable. All we ask is that we have access to a clean, quiet kitchen while we are cooking. This allows your Personal Chef to operate safely, without distractions and allows them to remain focused on creating each of the meals that you have requested. How long will you be in my kitchen each time? Each Client has different needs but we typically spend about two hours in your kitchen. If your menu needs are more or less complex, this time may vary somewhat. How do you store the food that you prepare? Whenever possible, we will use your containers. If need be, we can provide storage containers for an additional fee. This will be discussed at the time of your initial consultation. Is a Personal Chef Service expensive? We price our menu items affordably so that our services are accessible for most clients. We think that you'll find that your overall food bill from us will be less expensive than it would be if you were eating out or using take-out services on a regular basis. What if I don't see a plan that accommodates the number of servings that I need? No Problem. We can work with you to customize the number of servings and meals that you need. Just let us know! If I have a recipe that I like but that you don't have on your menu, will you make it for me? We'd be happy to make something for you. We simply need to be provided the recipe at the time of your consultation. Other Personal Chef Services may offer higher end types of meals. Rest assured that we are very capable of accomodating those needs and are happy to make those sorts of meals. We've just found that most of our customers prefer things to be a little more simplistic. What areas of the city do you typically work in? Typically, we work in West Linn, Wilsonville, Lake Oswego, Tualatin and Portland, Oregon.
